Released from her guardianship, Britney Spears continues to hear from her father. The latter has made a request to the courts to order his daughter to pay her legal fees.
For 14 years, Britney Spears was under the guardianship of her father Jamie. Earlier this year, the singer said she had long wished to be free of guardianship, but never got the chance. A judge had then given her permission to have her own lawyer. Britney Spears, finally released, quickly announced her intention to file a complaint against her father for abuse of guardianship. Matthew Rosengart, her lawyer, asked for the opening of an investigation on the years managed by Jamie Spears. To pay for his defense, the latter relies on the money of his daughter. He asked the courts to order him to pay his legal fees.
Britney Spears' attorney responded to the claim: Mr. Spears has embezzled several million dollars from Britney as her guardian, while paying millions more to her lawyers, all with Britney's hard-earned money and labor. The guardianship is over and Mr. Spears has been suspended. Under these circumstances, her request is not only without any legal merit, it is an abomination. Britney has given poignant testimony about the pain her father has caused her and this only adds to it. This is not what a father who loves his daughter does. This is what Matthew Rosengart wrote to the judge who must now rule.
